Psiphon Inc. ('we', 'us', or 'our') is committed to protecting the privacy interests of its users. This Privacy Policy explains how the Psiphon Conduit App ('the App') collects, uses, and shares information. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy.
Psiphon Inc. is incorporated in Canada, with its head office located in Ontario. This Privacy Policy is developed in accordance with the privacy laws of Canada, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the privacy laws of Ontario.

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from users who run Conduit Stations. However, the App may collect the following types of information:
Random Conduit Station ID: When you use the App, a random identifier is generated for your Conduit Station. This ID may be included in logs to help monitor the performance of the Psiphon Network. The identifier cannot be used to personally identify you.
IP Address: Your IP address is used temporarily when you connect to the Psiphon Network to perform a coarse-grained GeoIP lookup to understand regional usage. This information is discarded after use and is never logged.
Diagnostic Logs (Opt-In): You may choose to send diagnostic logs to help us improve the App's performance. These logs may include information on how your Conduit Station is functioning but do not contain PII. Sending these logs is entirely optional and can be controlled through the settings page.
Network Logs: Information relevant to the Conduit Station's network performance, such as bandwidth usage and connection details, is collected under the same policies as the rest of the Psiphon Network. No data that uniquely identifies a Conduit Station or its user is published or shared.
The data collected is used to:
We may share anonymized and aggregated network data with third parties, including service providers and partners, for analytical or performance-monitoring purposes. However, no data that uniquely identifies a specific Conduit Station or its user will be shared.
International Data Transfers: Psiphon operates globally, and anonymized data may be transferred to servers located outside of your jurisdiction. Psiphon ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect user data in compliance with local laws, including PIPEDA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, and other applicable regulations.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of network usage data. These include encryption, access controls, and regular security audits to safeguard network information. Psiphon uses encryption and secure protocols to ensure that all data transmitted via the App is protected against unauthorized access, even though no PII is collected or logged.
Diagnostic logs, when voluntarily submitted, are retained according to Psiphon's standard data retention policy. Logs are typically retained for 90 days and automatically deleted thereafter.
Data is aggregated by taking all user activity and combining it to form coarse statistical data that is not specific to a user. After aggregation, user activity is deleted, and the aggregated data is retained indefinitely for analytical purposes, but without any identifiers tied to specific users or Conduit Stations.
Why We Retain Data: Aggregated data is crucial for us to:
Users have full control over whether they share diagnostic logs with Psiphon. This feature is optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time in the app settings. Since we do not collect PII, users do not need to request access, deletion, or correction of personal information.
While Psiphon Inc. is based in Toronto, Canada, the App is available globally. The privacy laws applicable to users may vary based on jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to the processing of your data in accordance with this Policy and applicable Canadian laws.
If you download the App from an app store, such as the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, additional statistics may be collected by those platforms. For more information on what these platforms collect, please refer to each store's privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be communicated via the App, and the updated version will be accessible at any time in the App's settings and on https://conduit.psiphon.ca/conduit-privacy-policy/ .
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at conduit@psiphon.ca .
By accepting this Privacy Policy when you first use the App, you consent to the terms outlined above. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please refrain from using the Psiphon Conduit App.
